Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Community Services Coordinator, Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all swimmers and visitors by preventing accidents, enforcing pool rules, and responding to emergencies. This role requires constant vigilance, strong swimming skills, and the ability to perform water rescues, first aid, and CPR when necessary.

 In addition to monitoring the pool area, lifeguards assist with facility upkeep, conduct safety inspections and provide excellent customer service to pool guests. They must remain professional, alert and prepared to handle a variety of situations while fostering a safe and enjoyable environment.  

 Lifeguards also act as Instructors teaching the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program and evaluate participant skills, provide feedback, assess and communicate with parents/guardians.  

 Additionally, Lifeguard/Instructors serve as mentors and role models, promoting water safety and best practices.

Qualifications:

·       Between the ages of 15 and 30 and legally entitled to work in Canada

·       National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certification

·       Standard First Aid/CPR & AED

·       Valid Swim Instructor Certification

Hours of Work and Compensation:

• Anticipated start date – June 21, 2025, to the end of August
• 35 hours per week, $18.00 per hour. 
• Evenings and weekends
