Community Recreational & Leisure Programs Counsellor

Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Community Services Coordinator, The Community Recreational and Leisure Programs Counsellor is tasked with bringing new ideas and creativity to program and event planning discussions. They will have strong communication skills, and be responsible for the general safety, enjoyment, and participation of all participants. They will be tasked with implementing and facilitating summer programming for youth and seniors as well as administrative tasks in line with the promotion of facilities, events, and programs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Plan, organize, and oversee recreational and leisure programs tailored to diverse community needs.
- Develop inclusive activities that promote physical, social, and emotional well-being while maximizing the use of town facilities, including pool, parks, arena and ball fields.
- Promote programs and facilities through community outreach and social media platforms.
- Assist in customer service at both the Recreation Office and Lee pool by answering the telephone, accepting payments, and providing information as required.
- Coordinate the use of recreational spaces, equipment and materials.
- Monitor participant safety and well-being during activities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for team members and participants.
- Maintain accurate records of program participation, waivers, incident reports and payments.
Qualifications:
- Between the ages of 15-30 and legally entitled to work in Canada
- Valid First Aid/CPR is considered an asset
Hours of work and compensation:
- $17.20 per hour
- Anticipated start date – June 16, 2025
- 35 hours per week, 8 weeks
- Some evenings and weekends may be required.
