The Corporation of the Town of Kirkland Lake is seeking a
Waterworks Labourer
Full Time / Unionized
Position Overview:
Under supervision of the Supervisor of Water Operations, the Waterworks Labourer acts as crew member in performing duties for the construction & maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The Waterworks Labourer performs manual, and equipment related duties employing various hand tools and small powered equipment in the construction, maintenance, and operational activities. They are also required to work with sewage by cleaning and repairing sewer lines as part of the collection system. The Waterworks Labourer may also be required to operate the Vacuum Truck and/or other heavy equipment.
Hours of work: 40 hours per week but must be prepared to work outside of regular working hours as necessary, as well as be available for on-call.
Compensation: $26.97 per hour as per Collective Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications:
· Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
· Must have a valid Class “G” operator’s license in good standing.
· DZ operator’s license is considered an asset.
· Pass Ministry of Environment Operator-In-Training examination in water distribution and wastewater collection within six (6) months of job start.
· Be required to achieve Class I water distribution and wastewater collection as per the Water Resources Act.
· Must be able to fluently read, write, understand, and speak English.
· Must be capable of completing a variety of work forms and prepare written reports.
· Must also be capable of understanding blueprints and area plans; Knowledge of equipment safety.
· Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.
· Confident, consistent decisive personality.
· Must provide Criminal Record Check.
