Ontario Works Administrator

Location: Apitipi Anicinapek Nation and surrounding areas
Employment Type: Part-Time, 21 hours per week, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends
Compensation: To be determined based on qualifications and experience
Position Summary
The Ontario Works Administrator is responsible for administering and coordinating Ontario Works services for eligible community members. This position provides client-focused case management, eligibility assessment, intake services, referrals, and administrative support while ensuring compliance with Ontario Works policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
The Ontario Works Administrator works collaboratively with clients, community programs, service providers, and partner agencies to support self-sufficiency, employment readiness, and improved quality of life for clients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Intake and Case Management
o Conduct client interviews, intake assessments, and eligibility determinations for Ontario Works applicants and recipients
o Maintain ongoing case management and monitor client progress and program requirements
o Assess client circumstances, identify barriers, and support the development of individualized service plans
o Provide information regarding available benefits, services, programs, and community resources
o Assist clients in accessing employment, training, education, housing, health, and social support services
o Make referrals to internal and external service providers as appropriate
o Maintain professional and supportive relationships with clients while respecting confidentiality and privacy legislation
Key Responsibilities (cont.)
- Program Administration
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files, case notes, and supporting documentation
o Enter, update, and manage information within the A. D. Morrisson database, software systems, and related electronic records
o Monitor documentation requirements and ensure compliance with program policies and regulations
o Prepare reports, statistics, and program documentation as required
- Client Support and Transportation Coordination
o Coordinate transportation services for Ontario Works clients
o Maintain transportation schedules and ensure clear communication between clients, drivers, and service providers
o Monitor transportation requests and maintain appropriate documentation as required
- Community Support and Food Security Initiatives
o Coordinate food security initiatives and support available Ontario Works clients and their families
o Assist with the distribution and coordination of monthly food security programs where applicable
o Connect participants with available community resources and emergency supports
o Promote client well-being through access to community programs and services
- Collaboration and Communication
o Work collaboratively with Social Development staff, community partners, service providers, and government agencies
o Participate in case conferences, departmental meetings, and professional development opportunities
o Assist with program reviews, audits, and compliance requirements
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Director of Social Development
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Social Services, Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Community services, Human Services, Business Administration, or related field is preferred; equivalent education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered
- Experience working in social services, income assistance, employment services, or community support programs
- Knowledge of Ontario Works legislation, policies, and procedures is considered an asset
- Experience with case management, client assessment, and documentation
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database management systems
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience working within a First Nation community or Indigenous organization is preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records
Qualifications (cont.)
- Knowledge of community resources, employment support, and social assistance programs is preferred
- Experience using Ontario Works administration software and case management systems is preferred
- Understanding of trauma-informed, client-centered service delivery is preferred
- Accepted recent Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
Working Conditions
- Primary office-based environment with regular interaction with clients and community members
- Occasional travel for meetings, training, outreach activities, and client support
- May require attendance at community events and program activities
- Flexibility may be required to meet operational needs

Working conditions
This is a Part-time position, and the working hours are 21 hours per week, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends.. Additional hours may be necessary for the proper performance of the Employee’s duties.
