About Keepers of the Circle
Keepers of the Circle is an Indigenous Hub operated by the Temiskaming Native Women’s Support Group (TNWSG), a non-profit organization founded in 1997 to promote the economic, cultural, and social equity of Indigenous women, girls, and gender diverse peoples.
About the Role
Keepers of the Circle is looking to recruit an Indigenous Housing Worker (IHW) to provide housing support to Indigenous Peoples experiencing or at-risk of homelessness in the District of Temiskaming. You will be responsible for assisting local community members to address housing challenges and prevent homelessness in the District.
In this position, the IHW will provide navigation services to assist individuals to access basic needs, assistance programs and specialty funds, connect to other housing stability resources (including Keepers of the Circle Indigenous-focused services in healthcare, family support, and training and employment), and act as a liaison between landlords to mediate and prevent eviction. This position will integrate cultural approaches and views so that Indigenous members receive support and services in a culturally appropriate way. The selected candidate will collect frontline data to help Keepers of the Circle develop Indigenous informed housing and homelessness prevention programs and services. As the IHW, you will be working closely with the Keepers of the Circle’s Community Support and GBV Team.
