$17.60 – 25.31 per hour (wage will be commensurate with experience and qualifications) / Vacation pay

The District of Timiskaming Social Services Administration Board supports individuals in need throughout our communities by
delivering Children’s Services, Paramedic Services, Ontario Works, and Housing Services through the effective use of available
resources and in the best interest of the individuals we support. We are committed to serving and treating others through actions

We are seeking a team member to provide temporary administrative support to our staff within our various programs.
The incumbent will perform a variety of administrative support duties, as assigned, which may be different from one day to the next.
The ideal candidate will showcase their versatility and be motivated by the opportunity to perform work for different programs in a
multi-faceted human services environment. Leaders of the Housing Services, Ontario Works and Children’s Services Programs will
be responsible for coordinating and overseeing assignments. This position is unionized.
Responsibilities
▪ Ensure a regular, reliable and punctual presence
▪ Interact pleasantly and professionally with DTSSAB staff and individuals served
▪ Provide clerical and administrative support to a variety of programs, as required
▪ Tasks may involve data entry, document scanning, digitization of files, electronic and manual filing, file destruction, etc.
▪ Specific assignments may include assisting with maintenance work orders; taking repair requests (phone/by email); visiting
housing building locations to update bulletin boards; delivering tenant letters; assisting with client applications; helping with
purging client files; verifying that all client information is on file for overpayments; preparing files for digitization, etc.
▪ Participate in special projects and/or research, as assigned by Program leaders
▪ Incumbents with direct client service experience in a human or social services setting serving vulnerable or marginalized
clientele will provide reception coverage (greet visitors, direct inquiries and connect clients, callers and visitors accordingly,
answer incoming calls and other primary reception functions)
▪ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
▪ Post secondary education in Office Administration or a related program is preferred
▪ Previous experience providing a wide range of administrative and clerical support functions, with training in office procedures
▪ Experience in a human or social services setting interacting with or serving vulnerable clientele is a highly desirable asset
▪ Ability to successfully follow directions, instructions, and procedures while ensuring attention to detail and accuracy
▪ Effective communication skills, including the ability to listen carefully and empathetically to concerns or questions and convey
messages accurately
▪ Strong interpersonal abilities to cooperate effectively with staff and leaders, as well as deal tactfully with members of the public
▪ Adaptability, effective organizational skills and strong time management abilities
▪ Sound judgment, contentiousness, initiative, and resourcefulness
▪ Experience and/or training with navigating emotionally charged situations and interactions is an asset
▪ Computer proficiency and the capacity to learn various programs/databases is essential
▪ Bilingualism (fluency and proficiency in both French and English written and verbal communication) is a requirement
