2026 Geology Department Summer Students

We are seeking enthusiastic and safety‑focused Geology Summer Students to join our Technical
Services team for the upcoming summer term. This role offers hands‑on exposure to exploration and
production geology within an active mining operation. Students will gain experience in field data
collection, core logging, sampling, mapping, and supporting geological interpretations that guide daily
mine planning and production.
Students will work closely with geologists, technicians, surveyors, and operational crews to build
practical skills and understanding of geological processes in a real mining environment.
Location: Matachewan, Ontario
Employment Type: Full-Time, Summer Term
Department: Geology Department
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist with daily geological tasks, including:
• Logging core and/or underground geology under the guidance of site geologists
• Performing sampling activities
• Assisting with mapping of underground headings, stopes, or surface exposures
• Collecting and recording geological data using field tools, tablets, databases, and software
• Supporting the preparation, organization, and shipment of samples to the assay lab
• Helping maintain core storage facilities, sample areas, and geological workspaces
• Participating in QA/QC processes including sample tracking and data entry
• Photographing core, updating databases, and helping with geological data verification

Additional responsibilities:
• Complete visits to underground or surface locations to gather geological information, verify
mining progress, or assist with ground condition assessments
• Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all geology and site safety protocols
• Support geological and exploration projects as assigned, from data compilation to assisting with
field programs
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geological
Engineering, or a related field
• Strong observational, analytical, and note‑taking skills
• Willingness to work in underground or surface mining environments (training provided)
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and within a team
• Physically able to lift core boxes, walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders/stairs, and work in field
conditions
Work Schedule
Rotating shift schedule, 7 days on, 7 days off OR 14 days on, 14 Days off OR 4 days on/ 3 days
off, depending on department requirements
• Underground or Surface work required
• Must have own transportation to and from mine, no camp available, however, some
accommodation can be made on a case-by-case basis
• All required training and PPE provided

selection, based on previous site experience, good standing with grades and preference for students
pursuing or currently enrolled in a course of study that is related to the mining industry.
To be eligible to apply, student must be a minimum of 16 years of age to work on surface and 18 years
of age to work in underground operations.
