1.0 FTE Maintenance Person - Journeyperson Electrician and/or Gas Fitter and/or Plumber/ or Carpenter
Location: Southern Area Schools – Matheson, Kirkland Lake, Elk Lake, Englehart
Start date: As soon as possible

Immediate Supervisor's Title: Building Supervisor
Purpose of the Position: To perform Maintenance work (electrical and/or mechanical and/or plumbing and/or Carpenter) at Southern area schools.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must have a good working knowledge of techniques, equipment, and tools used in general construction and trades (electrical and/or mechanical and/or plumbing and/or Carpentry)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manufacturer’s manuals and electrical schematic diagrams (if electrical trade)
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in electrical and/or HVAC and/or plumbing systems
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively and maintain progress reports
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Shall work co-operatively and effectively with other staff, supervisors, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work
- Repairing, maintaining, and testing existing systems and equipment
- Preparing material and cost estimates required to complete work orders
- Processing on-line work orders
- Addressing alarms on the building automation system
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Ontario Journeyperson Certificate
- License (Electrician, Gas Fitter G1, Red Seal or Master Plumber or Carpenter)
- 8 to 10 years of commercial experience in specified trade
- Valid Class-G Ontario drivers license
- Must have own vehicle to get to work sites
- Currently working in the trade- Must have current WHMIS certificate
- Training in lock-out/tag-out, arc flash, confined space, working at heights and elevating platform lifts is an asset
- Fire protection and security system experience is an asset
- Certificates or licenses in other trades is considered an asset
Electrician
- Demonstrated experience as an Electrician in related building maintenance
- Strong knowledge of the Electrical Code- Ability to maintain all necessary electrical inspection reports
- Ability to install new panels, circuits, lighting, receptacles, and electrical equipment as required
Gas Fitter
- Demonstrated experience as a Gas Fitter in related building maintenance
- Familiar with HVAC systems, boilers and Building Automation Control Systems
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
- Ability to install and/or repair issues in HVAC systems as required
- Plumber
- Demonstrated experience as a Plumber in related building maintenance
- Ability to install, test and service sewers, sewage treatment systems and drainage, waste and vent systems
- Ability to install, test and service water service and distribution, fixtures, appliances and water treatment systems
- Ability to install, test and service hydronic heating and cooling systems
Carpenter
- Demonstrated experience as a Carpenter in related building maintenance
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
- Ability to preform general carpentry repairs
The number of hours per week spent on any given task is dependent on the incoming work requests and the priority of the work to be done. There may be times where general maintenance tasks need to be performed.
Compensation:
Salary in accordance with the current CUPE collective agreement Collective Agreements (dsb1.ca)
Hourly pay range of: $30.82 - $35.51
