GROUP HOME WORKER
Brief description
The position of the Group Home Worker is responsible for the implementation of the Group Home program abides by the standards so that services and related programs are being implemented with sound clinical social work and Anishinabek practices, expressed in the policies and procedures of Wahgoshig First Nation.
Tasks
- Handle emergency situations appropriately, utilizing crisis interventions when necessary.
- Participate on an on-call clinical crisis intervention team.
- Provide Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for at-risk youth.
- Attended family court proceedings as needed,
- Supervised youth in the home and in the community
- Administer medications to youth aged 19-21 with special needs.
- Facilitate Crisis Intervention
- Defused hostile situations.
- Implement family crisis intervention.
- Support behavior modification interventions
- Perform meal preparation and light housekeeping in accordance to maintain a safe and clean environment.
Qualifications and requirements
• A minimum of three-year BSW is required.
• Candidates without specific education qualifications, but who possess an appropriate combination of child welfare experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered.
• Equivalent combinations of training and experience may be considered.
• Direct experience in child welfare/protection services.
• Direct service experience with Anishinabek children and families.
• Bilingual an asset
• Police Check Vulnerable Sector
• Drug and Alcohol Testing
